Rural public schools are part of the Austin Area School District. In Potter County, Pennsylvania, it serves the Austin Borough as well as the Keating, Portage, Sylvania, and Wharton townships. The area of the Austin Area School District is roughly 228 square miles.

Austin High School (grades 7–12) and Austin Elementary School are run by the Austin Area School District (preschool-6th). The campus of the school district is housed in a single structure. Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center offers construction trades instruction for high school students.
