Benton School District

In Columbia County, Pennsylvania, there is a tiny, outlying public school district called the Benton Area School District. The boroughs of Benton and Stillwater, as well as Benton Township, Fishing Creek Township, Jackson Township, and Sugarloaf Township, are served by the Benton Area School District. The District is around 97 square miles in size.

Benton Middle/Senior High School (7th–12th grades) and L.R. Appleman Elementary School (K–6th grades) are the two institutions run by the Benton Area School District. Students at Benton Area High School have the option of attending Columbia-Montour Area Vocational-Technical School to receive training in the trades. The Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit 16 (CSIU16) offers the district a wide range of services, including professional development for staff and faculty, services for hearing, speech, and visual impairments, and specialized education for students with disabilities.
