A rural, mid-sized public school district, the Berwick Area School District. The Berwick Area School District, which includes parts of two central Pennsylvania counties, spans an area of about 101 square miles. It includes the Boroughs of Berwick and Briar Creek as well as Briar Creek Township in Columbia County. It includes Salem Township, Nescopeck Township, and the Borough of Nescopeck in Luzerne County.

The six schools run by the Berwick Area School District are the Nescopeck Elementary School, Salem Elementary School, Orange Street Elementary School, and Berwick Area Senior High School.
